Aikido And Community

Now that more and more people are living alone and working from home there is a greater desire to seek connection and community in other places.

We are a social species and social life and community are essential for good health.

People are at greater risk of low mood, depression and anxiety when living along and working from home.

Working from home leads to less physical activity which increases the risk of problems such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

On top of this lack of contact with others can actually contribute to stress and burn out. It can also lead to faster cognitive decline.

Attending a martial arts club has been found to be a way of alleviating some of these issues or to add further positives to the lives of those who do have have any of these issues.

The improvement to physical health may be obvious, but the interaction with others is also an important part. Over time clubs can develop a great spirit and lead to closer friendships forming between members.

It’s good to get out of our heads and to get back into our body from time to time. To have a set routine of practise to go to and a syllabus to work on. To get into flow in our body while interacting with others. All of these things can be helpful for our health and will add to our overall wellbeing and life quality.

You are welcome to join us for a beginner’s session tonight at the Palace Of Art.  We start at 7.30pm and last until 8.30pm.
