Report From 26th October 2024 Grading

Report From October 26th 2024 Grading

On Saturday (26th October 2024) we had our second grading of the year.

Every 6 months we hold a grading which we encourage students to train towards.

The grading involves learning a part of the syllabus and being able to replicate that under pressure in front on an audience and examiners.

The first grading involves 8 techniques from which 5 are chosen to be performed on the day.

Students are also graded for the Ki aspect of our syllabus. We are expected to learn to pass the Ki tests which are tests of mind and body co-ordination.

Later on, weapons katas and techniques are involved and also techniques involving 2 or 3 partners. Perhaps the most difficult challenge is randori, in which the student faces multiple attackers from all directions.

The grading on Saturday took place at Palace Of Art which students from 3 different clubs represented. The Palace Of Art club had a successful day with the following students passing:

Gordon Fraser, 2nd Kyu (Blue Belt)
Steve Collins, 3rd Kyu (Green Belt)
Priscilla Farrell, 4th Kyu (Orange Belt)
Richard McLeish 5th Kyu (Yellow Belt)
Fiona Collins 5th Kyu (Yellow Belt)
Eoin Carey 5th Kyu (Yellow Belt)
Chris Coleman 5th Kyu (Yellow Belt)

This is great for the club as we get stronger when more and more of our students are able to help beginners move along.

Congratulations to everyone.
